Let them eat cake
Let’s talk desserts
Gone are the days when couples were restricted to a single or multiple tiered cake. Weddings these days are far more inventive, our own son had a cheese wedding cake, it was amazing and all the cheeses selected were with the advice of a master cheesemonger (yes there is such a thing). That is a whole post for another day. In the meantime, let’s have a wee chat about dessert tables.
Instead of the cake, although there is still usually at least a one tier cake, the dessert table can have all manner of sweet treats. For today’s delectable delights I’ve gone with an autumnal theme, it being October and all. So am thinking apples, and leaves for decorations, with lots of warm wood platters and stands, toffee or caramel apples, naked carrot cake, baked apple pastries, pies stuffed with lovely harvest fruits, spiced cake pops with gold flecked chocolate truffle icing, a luscious cake with ombre cream and autumn shade frosting. Anyone for cheese, goes perfectly with an apple or fig chutney and dried fruits and nuts. Of course, you will need a couple of harvest mice to top the cake or the cheese!
