Living with tradition
Worn leather, colonial and botanical prints, carpet runners, grandmother clocks, brown furniture and heavy damask curtains. Dusky blues and greens with dashes of red and blue, all together an eclectic mix of old and older still.
An inexpensive look to achieve. Brown furniture has never been cheaper, bring it back to life with beeswax for a burnished glow. Haunt charity shops for gilt picture frames and put your own prints in, there are plenty for free online. End of roll fabrics to rustle up curtain blanks over blinds . Love this longleat fabric of safari animals gives a colonial edge to the whole scheme.
One of my favourite styles, maybe it harks back to a simpler time, when we had jam butties for tea, played conkers we wore short socks and grey knickers and the boys were in long grey shorts with grazed knees and we went everywhere by bike. Feeling nostalgic.
