Upcycling and Shiplap
Most women I know eagerly await delivery of parcels of pretty things like fancy pants and shoes. Some have a penchant for kitchenalia. Me, I get giddy when Amazon turn up with a box of hardware goodies. Bring on the knobs, wallpaper, fabrics and the latest diy gadget.
Today I got this, shiplap peel and stick wallpaper. I was like a giddy kipper, even though this was parcel 1 of 2 and 2 wouldn’t arrive for 3 days. Go figure. Amazon must be fulfilling the order from two different depots for reasons known only to them. I still could not wait to open it up and see what it looked like in the flesh.
As luck would have it I had brought home the double cupboard to chop in half and make into single cupboards. One of these was sitting finished on my dining table.
I felt compelled to remove said shiplap paper out of its shiny protective box and lie it lovingly next to the cupboard to see if the two together were aesthetically pleasing.
Oh my, there’s a Pin shot and an Instagram moment all in one!
Planning ahead
In fact, after the recent heatwaves we have thunderstorms forecast so I am staying at home to work on the second cupboard. However, tomorrow I’ll be on site painting the kitchen ceiling in readiness for putting some of this on the walls. I have a feeling that it might not be as easy as they say. I can see a definite pattern repeat which may cause me some wastage as the ceiling heights vary. I’ll need a plumb line to line up the horizontal pattern otherwise it will be like a tilting ship! One apparent benefit is that this stuff can be repositioned and restuck, will report back on progress.
