Renovations
After three years it was definitely time to do some sprucing up. The house itself is pebble dashed, which is not our first choice and unusual for here but far too large an expanse to replace, however, the other hard landscaping is either stone or render and the render had started to look very tired. I also never really liked the yellowy tone to the paint finish or the grey industrial look of the dated metalwork. Most certainly time to improve the kerb appeal of our house on the hill.
I’ve gone for a pale grey. This picks out the colour of the shutters and downspouts and is one of the colours of the stonework.
I used black Hammerite with a textured beaten finish to paint the metalwork and added willow reed fencing as screening to the lower terrace to provide a little more privacy.
A mixture of black and old zinc containers filled with asparagus fern, ivy, hydrangea, lemon balm, margherite and various geranium to brighten up the parking area.
The automatic gate and side gate are painted in the same black Hammerite, not so clear here as it was such a bright day it was really difficult to get a good image. The same willow reed is used to cover the chainlink fence between us and our neighbours and is a good foil for the conifer and bamboo planting. Unfortunately, we haven’t progressed much further as the larger expanse of rendering needs to be replaced and our builder isn’t free until August. Soon as that gets done I will share!
