Rain stopped play
This week has been a real mixed bag of weather, one minute boiling hot, aircon going ten to the dozen, the next thunder and lightening and torrential rain. Hello August! Which brought to mind this little collection of watery images. I have a soft spot for watercolour, dabble a bit myself, although I do love the acryclic painting in the top left quarter, very atmospheric and very much like the view from my window today. The other quarters I just love the faded and muted tones of blues and greys and greens with a a bright touch here and there. With all this wet it has not been easy getting the tiled table finished at all but finish it I have, apart from a light coat of wax to the trim and the chairs, six of which I have painted in graphite chalk paint. Here is a glimpse of the almost finished set. The tiles are grouted and cleaned and buffed to take off the chalky film. I am really pleased with the finished effect. I’ve posted a couple of close ups too so you can see the tile detail clearly. Would definitely recommend using mosaic tiles. I’ve used the small mosaic panels before but not the larger ones like these. Once you have your pattern worked out they go down really easily. Now I need to recover the seat pads to the chairs, they will be in a very neutral colour and easy to put through the wash. The remaining four chairs are being repaired so should get them back next week and get the final coat on. Next up repaint the deck, paint the woodplanters and the shutters. Watch this space for the next thrilling installment, ha ha ha. BTW I shared a snippet on my Facebook page earlier today and someone expressed an interest in learning how to do a project like this. If I get enough interest I may well start to offer workshops, if you think this is something you would like do let me know.
