El Raco
Mentioned in previous posts that we purchased a well worn one story villa out in the campo near Tortosa at the back end of last year. Ever since we have been working on it to make it eco friendly, up to code on things like plumbing, electrics and leaks.
The house is actually called Casa Blanca, a name I am not too displeased with as I thought I might change the gapping in the moniker so it looked more like the North African city, Casablanca, rather than White House which amused the locals no end I can tell you! I wanted something that was more Catalan so I can endear us to our neighbours by changing it to something more in keeping with the environment so we chose El Raco which means The Corner and as our plot is a corner it seems fitting. For now it is staying as it is to avoid confusion.
Meantime, we are continuing to repair roofs, replaster and re lay floors, modernise kitchen and bathrooms and change the internal layout. Otherwise the existing other buildings will be used for the purpose they are already designated a workshop for me, an office for Darren, an outdoor kitchen and a pied a terre in the grounds.
I will be partly documenting our renovations here and on my new FB page, El Raco, if you want to follow along!
