Catching the winter sun
Glorious day at St Marti d’Empuries and L’Escala today. Took our visitors, my niece Saskia and her lovely boyfriend Patrick and drove to the coast through the beautiful Baix Emporda with the roof down on my little VW.
It was one of those days where the sea had whitcaps, the beaches were winter clear and clean and the sky was the brightest of blues. Warm enough for shorts and shirt sleeves, we had breakfast of coffee and croissants in St Marti village.
The lovebirds strolled barefoot on the beach whilst I looked after the shoes, the socks, the bags, the hoodies, the cameras and sat on the sea wall soaking up the sun into my bones and breathing the sea air.
We wandered back to the car and I couldn’t resist this shot with the snow capped Pyrenees in the background as we sweltered in 20+C sunshine.
Finished the day at La Riba in L’Escala where we tucked in to steamed mussels, garlic prawns, whitebait, duck brioche, and deep fried brie with raspberry washed down with a nice canya of beer (not for me I was on the nestea!) Not a bad view for lunch before tootling back to Girona and a rest before going off to the Carre Foc tonight.
